We currently have a challenging opportunity for a bright, hardworking, and self-motivated developer. We are looking for a mid- to senior-level developer who exhibits personal humility and who strives to enable the success of their team in our fun and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities: As a developer, you will be working on a variety of projects for both internal and external clients, including building web applications, APIs, search and social integration tools, data analysis tools, and much more.

We do agile development running 2-week sprints. You will have time to write your unit tests, your code will be reviewed by peers, and it will be pushed to production on a weekly basis. What you create will get used! You will also have four days a month to explore innovative ideas and address technical debt outside of the sprint process.

*Relocation is not required.

Skills & Requirements:  

  • 3+ years of PHP or OOP development
  • 3+ years experience with relational databases
  • Understanding of MVC design principles
  • Experience with Git or other DVCS
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

QCEs contribute to researchers' success by ensuring high-quality language editing in every manuscript that we return to our customers, serving as the link between the contractors’ work and the final, edited product.

QCEs have expert knowledge of our internal quality standards and demonstrate versatility in subject area. They are independent, intelligent, adaptable, and team-oriented. QCEs are service-focused, with high levels of personal accountability and excellent time management skills.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide quality control for manuscripts edited by contract editors
  • Answer editor questions and provide support for technical and editing questions
  • Match customer manuscripts with contract editors in the relevant field
  • Based on business needs and individual strengths, participate in projects such as service delivery analyses, quality audits, and cross-divisional special projects

Medical/Life Sciences Copy Editor

We currently have full-time opportunities for highly motivated individuals with experience in copy editing to join our growing team. We are especially interested in candidates with experience or a background in life sciences, clinical medicine, or biomedical sciences.

Our Copy Editors provide consistent, high-quality editing for a variety of academic journals, primarily in biology and medicine. They use specific style guidelines to deliver the cleanest copy possible, and they ensure consistency in academic conventions, including abbreviations, terminology, figure legends, etc. The copyediting position is challenging because it entails delivering consistent, detailed edits (several manuscripts per day); it requires a combination of strong editing and time management skills as well as familiarity with scientific literature.

Many team members at Research Square are remote employees. Whether remote or local to the Triangle, team members regularly participate in videoconference meetings with their manager and teams and enjoy strong bonds with their colleagues. Because the work is results oriented and communication is often asynchronous, team members need to be tech savvy with strong written communication skills.

Skills & Requirements

  • MA/MS/PhD in a field of science or learning, preferably in life sciences, clinical medicine, or biomedical sciences.
  • Firsthand copy-editing experience, preferably in scientific publishing or medical communications
  • Demonstrated ability to apply multiple sets of style guidelines
  • An eagle eye for copyediting, from typographical errors to inconsistent style
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
