About the Role

The core function of the Academic Team Intern is to work alongside the Academic Team to ensure the quality of our instructional materials. Our videos, lesson plans, documents, practice problems, and assessments are used tens of thousands of times daily, and it is critical that the teachers and students who count on LearnZillion have an high quality and rewarding experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the creation and improvement of teacher and student-facing instructional materials such as videos, documents, and presentation slides, including supporting the artistic design of the materials
  • Ensure the quality of all instructional materials by reviewing, repairing, revising, and editing videos, documents, images, and presentation slides
  • Support the academic team in improving production quality and processes over the long term
  • Review site content proactively to identify areas for improvement

Basic Qualifications

About the Position

Reporting to the VP of Product Management, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our our Data, Reporting, Platform and Integrations Roadmaps, helping to define the vision of how the underlying LearnZillion platform works, how it plays with other products and services in K-12 schools, how it services the growing demand of third party content publishers and international partners, and how it collects, analyzes and presents learning and usage data and analytics to internal and external customers. As part of a team of results-oriented product managers, you will collaborate on process, work to identify market opportunities, and implement features and functionality key to growing the LearnZillion business domestically and abroad. This is an opportunity to permanently change the field of education.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and prioritized execution of our “Platform and Integrations” and “Data and Reporting” roadmaps. Manage products through their full life cycle, working closely with our engineering, product design, and academic teams to ensure that goals are met.
  2. Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform roadmap direction and decisions, gathering information about district needs through interviews and customer visits as well as analytics services.
  3. Partner with third parties to integrate LearnZillion’s platform into other systems and technologies in use in K-12 schools and classrooms.
  4. Collaborate with executives and other key members of the LearnZillion staff to ideate and implement critical features and functions
  5. Create and collaborate on product management artifacts and process
  6. Create product training materials for sales enablement and support training
     

Things we’re looking for in a candidate

  • A passion for the LearnZillion mission
  • 5-7 years bringing products or features to market in the education space.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing products or features  to market that utilize learning and other data in actionable and useful ways.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing products or features to market that integrate elegantly with the systems already in use in K-12 schools.
  • Knowledge of the political landscape in the US around data privacy and FERPA
  • Knowledge of the K12 software market (in particular LMSs), interoperability landscape, and related standards movements
  • Proficiency with SQL or other database tools
  • Proficiency with Tableau or other data visualization tools
  • Technical knowledge and experience necessary to have meaningful conversations about technical issues with technical staff.  Computer Science or Software Engineering experience a big plus.
  • Experience with metrics-driven decision making and the crafting of tools and reports in support of it.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Able to make complex topics clear.
  • Ability to participate in and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Outstanding project management skills within a variety of different organizations.
  • Comfort juggling many topics and issues of many shapes and sizes all at once
  • Experience and desire to work in a fast moving entrepreneurial environment
