The Assembly Maintenance Department Leader is responsible for leading and monitoring all activities including direct and indirect responsibility for all Skilled Trade Maintenance personal. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for a shift of maintenance activities
  • Assists in setting priorities for facility maintenance activities and personnel reporting to this position
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and team members;
  • Maintain positive team member relations; Listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours
  • Promote and practice “safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within
  • the department
  • Oversee and direct Maintenance team members on a shift in safe, quality-minded and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain production priorities as scheduled
  • Assist in maintaining effective department communications through a prioritized work list, plant meetings, daily meetings,and weekly department meetings
  • Maintain and continuously improve department organization and housekeeping standards
  • Facilitate natural cross functional work teams by rotating team members through all areas of plant

  • Involved in the review of major department projects from start to finish to insure proper techniques are being used
  • Report on status of departmental projects as required
  • Conduct performance evaluations of Maintenance staff as specified by company goals
  • Ensure team member documentation is maintained
  • Sign departmental purchase orders to insure items are needed and best quality for least cost
  • Interface with maintenance vendors and material suppliers to insure purchase of proper materials
  • Utilize lessons-learned philosophy in continuous improvement activities
  • Assist in updating preventive maintenance and work orders as needed
  • Complete correspondence, forms and reports in Microsoft Office and other required programs
  • Handle confidential information on a regular basis
  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
  • Promote and facilitate Open Door Process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update, modify, and continuously improve existing laser processing systems.
  • Optimize the purchase, maintenance of spare parts.
  • Train Technicians and Maintenance Personnel on how to properly operate and troubleshoot the laser processing processes.
  • Eliminate quality spills from lasers.
  • Implement an effective work structure in the laser processing area.
  • Plan, coordinate, follow up and implement APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) activities for assigned programs.
  • Apply and comply with AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) & company standards & procedures.
  • Establish and maintain budgets for assigned programs.
  • Provide customer interface for assigned programs.
  • Provide Program Engineering support for duration of program.
  • Generate and implement Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Do simulation studies for new and current projects.
  • Housekeeping and other activities as assigned.

Knowledge and Education

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the design packages associated with fueling, oil systems and industrial waste water treatment plants.
